The Reșița Steam Locomotive Museum was founded in 1972. Its collection includes 16 locomotives, 14 of which were produced in Resita. A visit to the museum allows you to follow the evolution of the steam railway from the 19th to the mid-20th century.
The oldest exhibit is the "Resita" locomotive, built in 1872 according to a design by John Haswell, intended for the Reșița-Secu mountain route. It was the first steam locomotive built in Central and Eastern Europe. In turn, the youngest object is a narrow-gauge railway locomotive from 1958.
