Mohoș bog is located at an altitude of 1,050 m above sea level in one of the craters of the Ciomatu massif, near Lake Sfânta Ana, southwest of Lăzărești. It forms part of the Mohos reserve and is one of the most valuable botanical reserves in Romania. It is also part of the protected Natura 2000 area.
Peat layer 10 to 20 m thick. The presence of peat makes the water almost black here. There are many plants in the fen, including sundews and several species of sedges. Various species of birds, reptiles and bats also live here.
Within the reserve, you can only walk on specially designated wooden pavements and footbridges. Entry to this area is possible only in the presence of a guide.
