Zoological Museum
Local name: Muzeul Zoologic
The Zoological Museum belongs to the Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca. It ranks second in Romania (after the Grigore Antipa Museum in Bucharest) in terms of the number of preserved specimens and their scientific value. It is also one of the largest museums in the country.
The collected collections reflect the evolution of the animal kingdom from simple organisms to the most complex and developed. In the first room there are exhibitions dedicated to invertebrates, including protozoa, sponges, crustaceans, insects and mollusks, as well as some vertebrates - fish, amphibians and reptiles. Some of the exhibits are preserved in formalin or alcohol.
The expositions in the second room show birds and mammals. They are presented both in educational cabinets with descriptions and in dioramas showing their natural environment.
