The Garden de Arca d'Agua in Porto is located in the center of the Square on April 9. The green space in the city contains many trees, flowers and other plants, caves and a lake. It is mainstay for various animal species. The park also has a stage intended for concerts and other cultural events. In the garden you can see a sculpture called "Family", designed by Cherters de Almeid and unveiled in 1972. An antique, collector's and handicrafts market is held in the garden on the first Saturday of every month.
The name of the garden comes from the Paranhos water reservoirs, which were the source of power for many fountains in Porto until the end of the 19th century. Park de Arca d'Agua was designed by Jerome Monteiro da Costa. Its opening took place in 1928.
Here, on February 6, 1866, the fight of Antero de Quental and Ramalho Ortigão took place.
