Sanctuary of Our Lady of Nazaré

The Sanctuary of Our Lady in Nazare is located in the upper part of the city. It stands on a large square that can accommodate thousands of pilgrims coming here during the pilgrimage. Today's church is a building erected in the 17th century. A monumental two-tower facade was completed in the next century. Believers worship the figurine of the Mother of God, which was brought here in the 8th century. There is also a cave in the area in which the figurine was stored.
