National Museum of Archeology

The National Archaeological Museum occupies the west wing of the Jeronimos Monastery in Lisbon. It collects collections related to the prehistory and ancient times of Portugal. It also has large collections of Ancient Egypt and Islamic Middle East.

The museum was founded at the end of the 19th century. His collections focus primarily on sites from excavations carried out in Portugal. You can see prehistoric ceramics and jewelry, as well as a large collection of Roman mosaics from the south of the country.

The exhibition on Ancient Egypt is very valuable. Stalls with hieroglyphs, jewelry, dishes and mummies of people and animals are shown on it. The museum also has a collection of Middle Eastern and Islamic art.
