The Ethnological Museum in Lisbon is one of the largest collections of art, crafts and applied objects in Europe from Asia, Africa, Oceania and South America. A permanent exhibition is presented here: museum treasures and temporary exhibitions regularly changed.
The museum was founded in 1965. A large part of his collection comes from former Portuguese colonies. The facility boasts the world's largest ethnographic collection from Timor. You can see dishes, clothes, jewelry, toys, instruments, weapons, masks and many other items from different continents. A collection on Portuguese ethnography, rural life and local folk culture has also been gathered here.
The museum regularly organizes workshops, meetings with folk artists, ethnographic film presentations as well as lectures and conferences.
