Luminous Fountain

The illuminated fountain is located in the Avenidas district. It consists of stone carving filled with sculptures and a terrace above it, from which waterfalls fall. Each evening the fountain is illuminated. Performances combining sound, light and water are held here.

The fountain was built during World War II, during which Portugal remained neutral. Located on the elongated square. In its lower part there are classicizing horse sculptures and mythological figures. Above them rises a stone wall with holes from which waterfalls flow.

The fountain is topped with a viewing terrace, from which a panorama of the square and its surroundings extends.
