The Lisbon Oceanarium is located in the Park of Nations complex, which was specially prepared for the EXPO exhibition in 1998. The oceanarium has water reservoirs with a total area of 5,000 cubic meters and a capacity of 5 million liters. In the object you can see the flora and fauna depicted in four two-storey smaller aquariums characteristic of each of the four oceans of the globe: Indian, Atlantic, Arctic and Pacific.
About 16,000 sea creatures from 450 different species live in the oceanarium. Tourists are particularly interested in sharks, rays, barracuda, sunfish, tuna and wrasse in the main water reservoir.
The building was built according to the design of American Peter Chermayeff working for the company Peter Chermayeff LLC in cooperation with Cambridge Seven Associates.
