Saint Catherine's Church is a baroque building located within the Old Town of Lisbon. Behind the two-tower, divided pilasters facade is a wonderful, decorated interior. Stucco decorations cover the walls and the vault. In turn, the altars are covered with thousands of small floral and geometric decorations and surrounded by twisted columns.
The church was built for the Pauline order in the first half of the 17th century. He received interior decoration around 1727. They present a rococo style. The walls and vault are in blue and pink. They were decorated with intricate stucco decorations. In turn, in the naves and the main altar, gold rules. It is covered with altar settings, collector's box and wall decorations.
Saint Catherine's Church is one of the best examples of Baroque in Lisbon. In the side altars you can admire high-class sculptures depicting the Mother of God, Saint Paul and Saint Anthony. Paintings for the church were made by the most important representatives of the Portuguese Baroque Vieira Lusitano and André Gonçalves.
