Águas Livres Aqueduct

Local name: Aqueduto das Águas Livres

18th century aqueduct that supplied Lisbon with water. It was built during the reign of King Jan V and was a response to the lack of water in the city. The aqueduct is 14 km. Its most spectacular part is the section located in the Alcantara valley. Arches here are up to 65 m high.
