Palace of Saint Lawrence

The monumental residence is the most important example of civil-military architecture in Madeira. Its construction lasted from the 16th to the 17th century. The building is divided into two parts - the governor's palace with representative rooms, private quarters and gardens, and a military fortress, where the museum is now located.
