The main city square, paved with cubes of basalt, marble and sandstone, which creates geometric, three-dimensional patterns. The most important buildings here are the sixteenth-century Church of Our Lady of the Assumption in the Manueline style and the building of the former town hall standing opposite it. The remaining two sides will be occupied by tenement houses, on the ground floor of which there are now numerous restaurants and bars.
