The Paula Rego Museum was opened in 2009. His collection includes over 500 works by an outstanding painter. Delightful paintings, drawings and engravings made by Prego on various media and using a wide range of techniques arouse the admiration of both connoisseurs and complete laymen. The institution's collection also includes 15 works of the late husband of the painter - Victor Willing. The extraordinary headquarters of the museum by Eduardo Souto de Moury is an undoubted showcase of the object.
The Portuguese architect consulted the building's design directly with the artist. An important aspect was the fitting of the building into the existing landscape. Its opening took place in the presence of the artist herself, the mayor of Cascais and the president of Portugal.
Paula Rego is a titled Portuguese painter and illustrator. Her works are out of the classification, but some of them can be included in the neodadaist trend. For Rego, the whole world is made up of stories, hence the name of the museum 'Casa das Histórias' (House of History).
