The museum is located in a residence built in 1902 by Jorge O'Neil, an Irish tobacco dealer. The building combines features of Gothic, Portuguese construction and Arabic influence. Exterior is decorated with azulejos tiles. The museum presents a collection of Portuguese and Portuguese art colonies, as well as handicrafts from the 17th-19th century.
