Church of St. John of Nepomuk
Local name: Kościół św. Jana Nepomucena
Church of Sts. John Nepomucen also called "the Church on the Water" belongs to the symbols of Zwierzyniec. The small, Baroque temple is beautifully located on the island of the Church Staw. The triangular facade is embedded in the former school building. Near the island is a hot water jar that adds charm to the building.
The pond and island in Zwierzyniec were established on the order of Marysieńka, the wife of Jan Sobiepan Zamoyski, and the later wife of King Jan III Sobieski. The church stood here between 1741 and 1747. It was built by Tomasz Zamoyski as a votive offering for the birth of his son, Clement. Later, the school was added to the temple.
It is a small Baroque building. The front is facing the bridge connecting the island to the mainland. The triangular top is crowned with a blind façade and cornices. The interior is covered by Baroque polychromy by Łukasz Smuglewicz.
