"Under Scales" Town Museum

Local name: Muzeum Grodzkie „Pod Wagą”

The "Pod Wagą" Grodzkie Museum is located in the oldest residential house in Zakliczyn. There are exhibitions devoted to the everyday life of the town's inhabitants and the period of World War II and the activities of the resistance.

The museum occupies an eighteenth-century wooden house with a half-timbered structure, covered with a sloping roof with pediments. During the Second World War Magdalena Międzyrzecka, nicknamed "Waga", who hid members of the resistance movement, lived there. For this reason, a large part of the exhibition tells the story of Zakliczyn's wartime fate. You can see photos, documents and military from this period.

The second part of the rooms is intended for an ethnographic exhibition. It shows the everyday life of the inhabitants of Zakliczyn. There are old household appliances, tools, handicrafts, as well as photographs and city documents.
