The Museum of the Wschowa Land collects souvenirs and documents related to Wschowa and the surrounding area. The facility is mostly dedicated to the history of the region. There are exhibitions presenting the history of Wschowa, its material culture, and the most important event that happened here - the Battle of Wschowa (then Fraustadt) in 1706.
The museum was established in 1968. Its collection originated from Izba of Regional Souvenirs. The exposition underwent a thorough renovation in recent years. It consists of, among others, the multimedia model of the city from the 18th century. The second exhibition is dedicated to the Saxon period - the times of the biggest glory of the city. The complement of this subject is the exhibition presenting weapons from the Battle of Wshowa and its course.Apart from historical exhibits, the museum also displays items related to the material culture of the region. They include handicrafts from the Middle Ages to modern times. The separate hall is dedicated to numismatics. It presents coins from Warsaw's mints from the times of Władysław Jagiełło, Sigismund III Vasa, and John II Casimir Vasa, and also other coins such as Piast denariuses.Less
