Defensive walls in Wschowa surround the Old City. The circle isn't complete because part of the construction was destroyed throughout the ages. What remained of it are the tower of the Polish Gate which serves today as part of the Evangelical church and the reconstructed round bastion.
First mentions of defensive walls in Wschowa come from the 14th century. It can be assumed that they were built in the place of wooden and earth fortifications. It consisted of two gates - Głogowska and Polish. Part of it was probably also the tower of the parish church.Gates and part of walls were dismantled in the 19th century. Today's construction consists of reconstructed parts which don't form a full circle. Brick walls are uneven in many places which indicates that they were rebuilt numerous times in the past.Less
