Old as the University of Wrocław, the Botanical Garden is an ideal place for a family stroll among the beautiful exotic plants from many corners of the world. The area of 7,5ha consists of about 11,5 thousand species such as regular Polish hardy perennial, tropical and subtropical species. The place also organizes many seasonal events - Majówki Tumskie, Pumpkin Festival, the finals of Wrocławska Magnolia contest, concerts, outdoor events and meetings of gardening lovers. The Natural Museum can be found nearby.

The Botanical Garden established in 1811 near Ostrów Tumski served as a scientific and didactic help for students and researchers. It had merely 5ha consisting of 427 plants. Nowadays, the garden is an independent institute of the Faculty of Biological Sciences of the University of Wrocław. It consists of an alpine garden, an arboretum, a section of ornamental plants, a section of water and swamp plants, a section of greenhouse plants and several labs.
