The Chochołowska Valley is the largest and longest valley in the Polish Tatras. It is located in the Western Tatras, near the town of Witów. The lower part of the valley is a ravine with steep walls. It is covered with mountain forests. In the upper part there is the vast Chochołowska Glade, where the PTTK shelter stands.
The Chochołowska Valley is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Polish Tatras. It is over 10 kilometers long and is strongly branched, especially in the upper part. In the past it was an important center of shepherding and belonged to the highlanders from Chochołów. The remnant of those times are shepherd's huts standing on the Chochołowska Glade. There is also a small wooden chapel.
The Chochołowska Valley experiences a particularly great tourist siege in early spring, when crocuses begin to bloom in its upper part. Purple rugs attract real crowds against the backdrop of snow-covered Tatra peaks.
