Philadelphia Boulevard

Local name: Bulwar Filadelfijski

The Vistula boulevards located between the Old Town Complex and the Vistula River stretch along the medieval city walls. It is a popular promenade in Toruń, where Toruń Days take place. It received his name in 1977 in honor of cooperation undertaken between the Polish city and Philadelphia.

Tourists come to this popular place in Toruń to admire the opposite green bank of the Vistula, the so-called Kępa Bazarowa, which is a nature reserve. In addition, one can use up to three passenger transport stops, see the memorial anchor-obelisk, and a small limnigraph from 1892 designed by H. Binderman, who modeled on Norwegian wooden architecture.

The Philadelphia Boulevard also has historical and cinematographic significance. The first scenes of “Cruise”, the popular film by Marek Piwowski, were shot here. What's more, on May 3, 1982, the largest anti-communist demonstration in Poland took place here.
