Forest Glassworks
Local name: Leśna Huta
In an unusual, original workshop, visitors can not only learn about the history of the local glass industry, but also try their skills at decorating crockery by engraving, jewelry or hot forming. Glass forming takes place at 1200 degrees, therefore the classes are intended for adults only.
Forest Glassworks (Leśna Huta) is managed by master Henryk Łubkowski who, together with his family members, organizes shows, from hand-forming of glass through its coloring to decorating. The traditions cultivated by the master date back to the beginning of the 14th century, and their beginnings are connected with the rich deposits of quartz, the basic component of glass. The availability of wood necessary for firing furnaces was also favorable for the development of the glass production. The objects created by the master in front of the spectators are various decorations and vessels formed by hand with the help of old tools and craftman's special forms.Less
