Seklerska Gate
Local name: Brama Seklerska
The Seklers Gate, located in Stary Sącz, is a rather unusual building. There are only two such gates in Poland. The gate in Stary Sacz is a gift from the Sekler, a Hungarian ethnic group, whose rich culture can be seen in the interesting ornamentation of the gate.
The Seklers' Gate stood in Stary Sacz on the occasion of St. canonization. Kingi in 1999. The figure of the holy connects the Polish and Hungarian peoples. It was because of the Hungarian princess's origin, who came out as the last representative of the Małopolska line of Piasts, Boleslaw the Shy. St. Kinga was active in the area of Old Sacz - on its initiative was established monastery of the sisters of the Poor Clares.
Gates made by the Sekler are of particular importance. According to the customs of this ethnic group, the gate must be eternally open, symbolizing the openness of the Hungarians. Their hospitality and kindness are also manifested in the inscriptions on the doorstep: "Peace in, outgoing blessing."
