Regional Museum

Local name: Muzeum Regionalne

The Regional Museum in Stary Sącz is divided into two parts: Regional Museum in. Seweryn Udzieli and the Museum of Father Joseph Tischner, who was born in Stary Sącz. Both museums are housed in the historic House at the Pit and both contain collections of items associated in some way with Stary Sacz.

Regional Museum im. Seweryn Udziele was founded in 1956 and functioned as the Regional Chamber in its early years. From the moment of the museum's inception, many interesting exhibits have been collected, presented in the form of various exhibitions: sacred, ethnographic, historical (showing the history of Stary Sącz) and biographical, devoted to Aida Sari, a Polish opera singer. In addition, the Regional Museum houses a chamber of patriotic traditions and prominent inhabitants of the city.

Part of the Regional Museum devoted to Father Józef Tischner was created in 2004. You can see a large collection of souvenirs from Father Tischner and the home of the priest's family home.
