Convent of the Poor Clares

Local name: Klasztor Sióstr Klarysek

Monastery of the Poor Clares exists in Stary Sacz since the time of St. Stanislaus. Kindze, founder of the monastery, Sroda Sądecka. Its construction began in the second half of the 13th century and to this day is a very popular place of religious worship. The medieval monastery complex is called "Wawel Podhale" by some because of its magnificence and magnificent architecture.

Starosądecki monastery of the Poor Clares was built over the Poprad Valley and ordained in 1285. It is an example of Gothic sacred architecture, which despite its many redevelopments and a series of renovations retained its original character.

The monastery church in Stary Sącz is a one-nave building with a relatively short chancel. Church furnishings - like the temple itself - are historic and count hundreds of years. The main altar and side altars dating back to the 17th century are made of black marble and stucco. Image of Saint Clare, patroness of the cloister monastery, is located at one of the side altars. One of the altars dedicated to the founder of the monastery - St. Kinga.
