Settlement of Florianka and Ostoja Polski Konik
Local name: Osada Florianka i Ostoja Konika Polskiego
Polish konics are descendants of tarpan. In natural conditions they are kept in Zwierzyniec, near Echo Stays. I live in dozens of Polish ponies. The idea of this place belonging to the Roztocze National Park is the smallest human intervention in the life of animals.
Breeding was established in 1982. Today, after expanding its area several times, it occupies about 180 hectares of forest, meadows and dykes. The area is fenced so that the horses do not scatter throughout the area. Animals live in flocks led by the oldest mare. They get food. Only in the winter they are fed with hay.
In 1996, the second breeding of Polish horse was established in RPN. It is located in Florian. At this point horses are kept in stables. They are prepared for walking in the field and for field work.
