Permanent exhibitions in Sieradz District Museum are dedicated to archeology, history, history of art and ethnography of Sieradz Land. It occupies the oldest tenement house in the city which comes from the turn of the 17th century.
The museum was established in 1937 in Sieradz. First display units were donated by, among others, Sieradz starost Kazimierz Łazarski, Kazimierz Walewski of Tubądzin, and priest Walery Pogorzelski. Thanks to Zofia Neyman, keeper and director of the museum in the years between 1948 and 1976, the facility was extended with two tenement houses situated in the Sieradz's square. The number of exhibits has risen then to over 40 thousand. The museum also organizes temporary exhibitions. It has two branches: Sieradz Ethnographic Park and Walewski Museum in Tubądzin. The museum also includes an educational department and library.Less
