Pilica Castle, located in Polish Jura, is one of the palaces within the Trail of the Eagle's Nests. The castle is surrounded by the large, 10-hectare garden recognized as a natural monument. It consists of rich vegetation and the popular lime tree of Queen Elisabeth which is over 600 years old.
The castle is surrounded by impressive bastion fortifications. Many of the buildings and decorative parts are in very bad shape and are falling into ruin. The caste is a private property and isn't opened to the public. First mentions about the castle come from the 16th century but it is unknown when it was built.One of the buildings, former court workshop, performs today residential functions. The legal situation of the building wasn't regulated since a quarter of a century.Less
