Collegiate of St. Martin in Opatow is one of the few Romanesque monuments in Poland. It is one of the most valuable monuments of the Świętokrzyskie voivodeship, whose interior contains many valuable objects.
Collegiate of St. Martin was built at the turn of the 12th and 13th centuries. It was rebuilt many times, but its shape retained the features of Romanesque style. It is a three-nave basilica with transept and two towers. It was built of sandstone. The interior is covered by Late Gothic vaults dating back to the Great Reconstruction. Nave and transept are covered with baroque polychrome. It presents the great, victorious battles of the Polish armies - the Psim Pole, Grunwald and the Vienna Viktorie. The greatest treasure hidden in the interior of the collegiate is the renaissance tomb of the great chancellor Krzysztof Szydłowiecki. Under the statue of the deceased was a beautiful, bronze relief called "Opatowski Lament". It was built in the workshop of the famous Italian sculptor Bartolomew Beresci, who worked at the court of Zygmunt Stary. It presents over 40 characters that mourn the deceased owner Opatov.
