The Naujack Tenement House is a headquarters of City Culture Center. It also consists of the two art galleries and workshops. Many cultural events are organized there: vernissages, lectures, meetings with authors and concerts. The building was entered in the register of objects of cultural heritage and after the revitalization in 2008 is considered architectonic pride of Olsztyn.
The house was built at the end of the 19th century, however, its current splendorous shape was achieved thanks to Otto Naujack. The businessman bought it in 1896 and over 10 years later made it into a secession palace which he rented out to wealthy tenants. During World War II the tenement house was taken over by SS. Thanks to that, the house probably wasn't destroyed due to the warfare. Many monumental parts of the equipment such as masonry heater, coal cooker, wooden niche wardrobes, folded doors with stained glass, glass canopy and stained-glass windows survived to this day.Less
