Museum of Modernity

The Center for Technology and Regional Development "Museum of Modernity" is located in the historic Raphaelsohn Sawmill, adjacent to the Central Park. Museum exhibits are related to the industrial development of Olsztyn and the surrounding area. Visitors will learn, among other things, how the objects were manufactured, houses were built, how people were communicating and they were moving around throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. In the museum the everyday life of the former residents of the city is also depicted. The exhibitions are complemented by interactive multimedia.

A distinctive feature of the museum is a tall, historic chimney, restored during the revitalization of the building in 2012 - 2013. It was moved from the brick factory in Rozogi and it was installed in the place of the former sawmill chimney.

The museum building is the only surviving building of the first industrial district of Olsztyn. In the past, there were three other sawmills, two breweries, a machine factory with iron foundry, a municipal gas plant and a chemical factory.
