Dąbrowszczaków Street

Local name: Ulica Dąbrowszczaków

Dąbrowszczaków street in Olsztyn was named in honor of the Polish volunteer troops which fought on the Spanish front in the civil war in the 1930s. The troops were led by Jarosław Dąbrowski - hence the street's name. The monumental villas from the turn of the 20th century are located along the street.

A true jewel of secession architecture can be admired at 10 Dąbrowszczaków street - villa Fortuna made of red brick and built on 'L' letter plan. The building is decorated with the tower with dormers and the flag. It's the only one out of the three villas in Olsztyn that was decorated with a cartouche with the villa's name. The villa was entered in the register of objects of cultural heritage.

Another example of the early 20th-century architecture is the building of Regional Prosecutor's Office which also was entered in the register of objects of cultural heritage. Moreover, the renovated Neo-Renaissance tenement house, where the factory of mineral water and liqueur used to function, can be found at 2 Dąbrowszczaków street.
