Nowy Sącz District Museum is located in the Gothic House - one of the oldest tenement houses in the city. Its collections consist of, among others, sacral art and craft wares from Nowy Sącz and the area. Among pieces of sacral art, very important are icons secured from the Orthodox churches in Sącz Land which started felling into ruin after resettlements of Lemkos.
The museum's history dates back to the 19th century. Souvenirs related to the city were then collected by the Zubrzycki Family. Before World War II, exhibits were presented in the Sącz's castle. It was, however, blown up in the last years of the occupation destroying a major part of the collection. The Gothic House serves as the headquarters of the museum since 1965. It is a former medieval house for canons from neighboring St. Margaret's Church. The collection consists of paintings, sculptures, pieces of altars form churches in Nowy Sącz and the area.
