The headquarters of the museum is the former evangelical church which ceased its sacral activity in 1945. The museum consists of about 200 display units including old agricultural equipment (chaff cutters, looms, horse mills), household equipment (furniture, dishes, irons, spinning wheels), and vehicles (sleighs, wagon, and also the reconstructed horse-drawn fire engine with the wooden fire pump from 1913.
The museum was established in 2002 on the initiative of the Kashubian-Pomeranian Association and the Association of the Development of Lipusz Municipality. The originator was former forest ranger Stanisław Lewna who gathered and secured exhibits in neighboring villages. He also found and translated an excerpt from the German book "Chronicles and statistics of evangelical churches in provinces of East and West Prussia" by A. Harnoch from 1890. It describes the history of the church and the neighboring cemetery. In 1864, Rampert, the owner of Lipusz, donated the square for the construction of the church and cemetery to the parish of 500 followers. The building was finished in the same year. After World War II, the evangelical community in Lipusz ceased to exist while the church and cemetery were forgotten. Today, the cemetery is maintained by children from the local school. Part of the old evangelical tombstones is housed by the museum.Less
