Market Square in Lanckorona
Local name: Rynek w Lanckoronie
The small village of Lanckorona in Lesser Poland is an extremely charming place, steeped in folk culture. Buildings from the 19th century with characteristic one-story wooden houses that surround a very atmospheric market square have been preserved.
The market in Lanckorona is quite unusual - it is sloping because the town is located on a mountain slope. The most representative Lanckorona buildings are built at the market square. These include the previously mentioned historic houses (built in the nineteenth century), but also the Regional Museum or the parish church of St. John the Baptist (from the 16th century).
Every year various types of festivals and folk events take place in the Lanckorona market. The most popular festival is the "Angel in the Town" taking place around Christmas.
