Park of the Pomeranian Dukes

Local name: Park Książąt Pomorskich

Park of the Pomeranian Dukes in Koszalin is a park complex from the nineteenth century. On the site there are many nature monuments, including the oldest tree in the city – three hundred years old sycamore maple, called the Witches Tree. Moreover, one can see an old mill and rare species of trees here and walk down the picturesque lanes as well.

A park was established at the foot of the city walls. It was divided into two parts. Part “A” , that is a Park of the Pomeranian Dukes, once called a Park of Polish-Soviet Friendship, is older and works started here already in seventeenth century. This is a place, where one can find the oldest trees, a pond and a fountain.

The second part is a Park of the Pomeranian Dukes “B”, once called a Park of the Hanna Sawicka. This is the most southern part of the park. One can see here some species of trees and bushes rarely found in Poland , like for example: black walnut and Chinese willow, and in the western part one can admire fragments of the defense walls.
