Sanctuary of the Annunciation
Local name: Sanktuarium Zwiastowania NMP
A small historic church under the care of the Franciscan Order. The temple was founded in the 16th century, but its present, classicist shape is the result of reconstruction after the fire of 1827. The picture in the altar, painted in oil on wooden boards, depicting the scene of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is worshiped and is the destination of numerous pilgrimages. In 1986 he was crowned with the papal crown.
Inside the Sanctuary, the original, several hundred years old equipment has been preserved. Its most valuable elements include the main altar from the 17th century (with an older painting of the Annunciation, dated to 1600) and an iron, forged door from the end of the 16th century. The original balustrades and handrails have also survived to the present day.
The Sanctuary of the Annunciation is part of a larger monastery complex, which also includes a museum containing valuable exhibits related to
with the history of Kazimierz Dolny.
