Vistula Narrow Gauge Railway
Local name: Nadwiślańska Kolejka Wąskotorowa
The Vistula Narrow Gauge Railway organizes rides on the over 11-km track between Karczmirska and Nałęczów. The route consists of 11 stops which present its history, from its origin to modern times. The railway is opened on Sundays from May to the end of September.
The railway consists of diesel locomotives, Romanian passenger carriages, passenger carriages based on freight wagons, and freight wagons. There are also motor-powered draisine and human-powered draisines. The railway was established thanks to the Kleniewski Family who, in 1892-1893, built the wooden railway tracks connecting the farm in Polanówka with the confectionery in Zagłoba. The first carriages were powered by horses. Iron tracks were installed in 1900. The next extension was carried out during World War I, however, the tracks were dismantled by Russians. After the war, the railway was rebuilt by the Kleniewski Family and then taken over by Polish State Railways. The narrow gauge railway was a permanent connection with Nałęczów. It operated until 1991 and was opened again in 2008 as a tourist attraction.Less
