On the jaroslav market, in the numbered 14 of the XVIth century Rydzik Rydzikowej, there is an entrance to the 150-meter underground tourist route opened in 1984. prof. Felix Zalewski. Walking through the dark corridors below the city and reaching up to 9 meters below ground level, three-storey cellars evoke memories of ancient times. Jaroslaw was once famous for the great fairs, which were frequented by merchants from afar, and its hollowed-out works between 15th and 17th centuries served as inter alia. as a place to store goods.
The route was created in unusual circumstances: in the 50s of the 20th century the underground began to fall, which threatened the destruction of historic tenements. When two of them collapsed, Professor Feliks Zalewski from the Cracow University of Mining and Metallurgy came to the rescue of Jaroslawski of the old town. Unfortunately, many basements had to be flooded with concrete seals during the works. One of the surviving fragments was opened by the Underground Tourist Route.
At the end of 2015 another attraction was opened: Underground Tourist Transit under the townhouses No. 4, 5 and 6.
