Sobieszewo Beach

Local name: Plaża Sobieszewo

Located inside: Sobieszewo Island

Sobieszewo Beach is the longest and the most beautiful beach in Gdańsk. It's located between Gdańsk and the Vistula Spit. It has 11 km in length. The sandy beaches are surrounded by pine forest and dunes which protect the area from winds blowing from the land. Since 2013, Sobieszewo Beach has the Blue Flag certification.

It has two guarded beaches opened in the summer. The first one is Gdańsk Sobieszewo located at the end of Falowa Street. A big attraction of this place is the marked tourist track leading through the forest. The beach is situated far from communities and parking lots. The second one is Gdańsk Orle located at Lazurowa Street. It consists of the marked tourist track leading along the beach in the forest. There is also a volleyball court and food courts at the entrance.

The legend says that the name "Sobieszewo" came from the surname of "Marysieńka" - the wife of King John III Sobieski - who visited this place several ages ago.
