Irena and Mieczysław Mazaraki Museum in Chrzanów is a facility which administers three monumental objects in the city. Its main building, where the exhibitions dedicated to the history and nature of Chrzanów are presented, is the former court quincha of the Ligęza Family. There is also Urbańczyk House - an example of city villa from the 19th century - and the Jewish cemetery with ohels of the Halberstam Family.
The museum operates since 1960. It was established thanks to the efforts of Mieczysław Mazaraki who was its director for many years. the exhibitions presents the history of Chrzanów and local Jews, the activity of the factory of locomotives "Fablok", and the nature and geology of the region.Urbańczyk House, where the local architect lived, presents the regional villa architecture. The ground floor consists of temporary exhibitions while the library and reading room can be found on the first floor. The museum also administers the Jewish cemetery. It contains two ohels - structures built around tombstones of rebbes and important thinkers.Less
