The Chełmno Town Hall, the seat of the Chelmno Land Museum, was built in the 13th century. Although originally built in the Gothic style, after many redevelopments, it has become a fine example of Renaissance architecture and one of the most valuable Polish monuments in this style.
The roots of the Town Hall in Chełmno date back to the 13th century, but the building that tourists visit today visitors to Chełmno is a result of work carried out in the 16th and then 19th century. The town hall has three storeys, and a single tower with a Baroque helmet emerges from the center of the roof. Inside the building is a portal with a relief with a cartouche. The interiors of the town hall are as decorative as its exterior appearance - they are finished with stucco and frescoes.
The Chełmińska Museum, housed in the Town Hall building, collects collections showing the history of Chełmno and the Chełmno land, memorabilia related to the learned and working surgeon and general Ludwik Rydygier in Chelmno, as well as paintings by Chełmno painter Antoni Piotrowicz.
