Grudziądzka Gate

Local name: Brama Grudziądzka

One of the five preserved gateways to the city, located at the mouth of the Chelmno pedestrian precinct, is one example of an ancient medieval defensive structure.

In the area of the former front porch on the upper storey there is a chapel "Na Bramka". The quadrangular design with a pedestrian walkway is distinguished by a simple form with a high, sloping roof covered with tiles. The wall is decorated with clock face and high Gothic window, built in the 17th century chapel. From the Planty's side, the gate is decorated with a mannersist decor and a small niche with the statue of Our Lady of Chełmno. Built in the 13th century, the structure was the main entrance to Chełmno, while protecting its inhabitants.
