On the top of a 45-meter high red brick builidng an observation deck is situated. From there visitors can see the panorama of the closest area. The interior of the renovated building presents an exhibition documenting the history of municipal waterworks.
Among the exhibits are photographs, documents, equipment of old bathrooms and toilets, as well as fragments of the 16th-century wooden pipes of water supply network that have been discovered during excavations. On the upper observation deck, to which spiral stairscase leads, special telescopes have been installed, through which visitors can look at distant buildings of the city. Around the tower is the Henryk Dąbrowski's park which is a wonderful green background for a historic building. The water tower had been built in the first years of the 20th century, and its aim was leveling out the water pressure in the waterworks at the time, which was possible to achieve with a reservoir placed in a domed top. The observation deck on the top had been a great success until 1945, when it was closed. Since 2012, after a complete renovation, it has been again available to visitors.Less
