A marvellous green enclave in the centre of Bydgoszcz is a perfect place for resting, as well as contemplating art and history in the local museums. In the surrounding of avenue of old trees, alleys with benches, the hum of water and green lawns, there are branches of the Regional Museum - Modern Art Gallery in Red Granary, European Money Centre, Leon Wyczółkowski House, and the Archaeological Museum in White Granary.
Each spring there are colorful flower carpets laid. The Mill Island is surrounded by two distributaries of the Brda River - the proper one and more dynamic Młynówka. Along the island one main street is located, the Mint (Mennica), which is a mark of grandness of the private Stanisław Cikowski's mint that had been operating there since 1594 due to the royal prerogative.A few residential houses, former industrial buildings - antique mills, grain warehouses, granaries, groats factory creating a specific atmosphere of this place can be seen there.
