Sulkowski Dukes’ Castle

Sułkowski Dukes' Castle is one of the oldest and biggest historic building in Bielsko-Biała. This magnificent eclectic building was built in 14th century. Nowadays it is a seat of Historic Museum, where numerous permanent and temporary exhibitions are held, gathering, among others, exhibits connected to history, ethnography and art of the city and its surroundings, as well as many paintings and historic furniture.
The castle itself is a precious relic and some of its rooms, in its original form, are museum halls. One of them is a a Knight Hall with exposition of archeological findings from the castle area, Biedermeier's salon with furniture typical to nineteenth century citizen room, as well as Women's lounge and Lord's office, which are personal rooms of Sułkowscy family members. Very interesting is also a Music salon stylized on nineteenth century classicist room.
Exposition “Histories of Archeology and History of Podbeskidzie” shows findings documenting history of establishing first settlements in the area and life of its inhabitants hundreds years ago. While visiting expositions : “Ethnography of Bielsko-Biała and its area”, as well as “Contemporary Art of Podbeskidzie” one can gain knowledge about its culture and tradition.
Such expositions like: Exposition of Polish and European Art of the XIV - XVII century, Polish and European painting of XIX- XX century and Graphics of the turn of XIX and XX century are devoted to art.
