The museum is located in the so-called "Gutenberg's House". It presents exhibitions dedicated to the biography of Emanuel Lasker - world chess champion - and also the history of Barlinek, archeology, and ethnography. What is more, the facility organizes various meetings and out-door ceramic and painting events.
The name of the tenement house comes from its original purpose. In the past, it housed a printing house, bookstore, and publishing house. Nowadays, its rooms are dedicated to exhibitions.
Archeological expositions consist of tools from the period from the Neolithic to the Iron Age. The historical exhibition shows the history of the city from the 19th and 20th centuries which is presented on dioramas, maps, and postcards. The last room consists of items from the 19th and 20th centuries showing the everyday life of inhabitants of neighboring villages.
