The monument by sculptor Fritz Røed is a symbol of the unification of the Norwegian nation, it was unveiled in 1983 by King Olaf V. Three 10-meter bronze swords are intended to remind of the historical battle for the Hafrsfjord, which took place at the end of the 9th century. As a result of the victory, Harald I the Fair-haired man created one powerful kingdom.
