Lake Hofvijver

The pond in the center of Old Hague is actually a natural dune lake. In the Middle Ages there was a large island on which in 1242 Wilhelm II was to build a castle and thus give rise to today's city. Currently, in the center of the lake there is a small, tree-lined island with a flagpole.
